~tHe pRay3r~

they sat, in the dark...
one against another...
huddling each others' shivering bodies...

the war was so close to them...
they could hear the explosion, like a dull thump on the earth...
all the men were summoned to the front line,
to protect their country, their families, their love ones...
and they, they were those left behind...
helpless, shattered, cold...

the kids were sound asleep beside the warm fire...
but they, they dare not close their eyes...
too worried to sleep,
too scared to lie down...
too shocked to believe that this was happening...
too helpless to do anything for anyone, including themselves...

thus, they gathered at the small hut,
by the side of house, where the kids lied...
holding one firm believe...
one strong will...
one deep love...
they prayed...

dear maria...
bless us all, bless our beloved ones...
bless our children, to have a better tomorrow...
bless our husbands, brothers, sons, who fight for us...
amen..... amen....

again and again they repeated those words...
like a incantation, filling the atmosphere above...
the sky suddenly was clear...
no wind, no cloud... no smoke...
hope is here, they whispered...
miracle is here, they thought...

and so they thought...

... ...

the army marched by...
one of them were crying...
a young man, silently, wishing...
'may you live happily, peacefully, in the other side...
i love you...'
